At last September’s Ars Electronica Festival, ITRI’s Creativity Lab (CL) teamed with Taiwan’s National Palace Museum to present the digital art piece Flow of Qi. Flow of Qi aimed to give viewers a unique experience of the concept of qi, which plays such an important role in Chinese culture. The piece employs state-of-the-art Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) sensing technology to enable participants to use their breathing to interact with treasured works of Sung Dynasty calligraphy from the collection of the National Palace Museum. The Ars Electronica Festival, widely considered the world’s pre-eminent digital arts festival, is held annually in Linz, Austria.
